Russell William Elderbaum, Sgt. Bum, served with the 1st Cavalry in Vietnam from June 1969 to December 1970. When he returned home to Long Island, he suddenly became ill with diabetes said to be related to his exposure to Agent Orange. For the next 20 years, he spent much of his time in and out of VA Hospitals. Russell died on July 29, 1992. He was 100% service connected disabled and a member of the Blind Veterans Association. Russell loved football and Rock-n-Roll, and he himself was much loved by all.
