Message: Assigned to D Trp 1/1 as it was forming at Ft. Hood right out of flight school. Flew "C" model guns then Cobras until there were enough cobra rated pilots, then flew slicks. "Infused" into A Trp 2/17 in April until DEROS July '69. Received direct commission May '69 retiring in '92 as LTC. Had second tour Sep '71 - Aug '72 with Task Force Garry Owen, B/229 1st Cav. Hoping to attend March '25 reunion in DC.

Message: I left B/7/17 and joined D troup 4 days before they moved down to Chu Lai and stayed there till 10/69. I came there along with Johnny Applegath and a Capt Montgomery (sorry guys)who became the slick platoon leader.

Message: Hey Mike ... I have trouble remembering names, but I do remember DJ / Gary Smith, Lurch, Jerry Brown, Lee Galloway, Labredo, Gray and others. I went back to college and ended up retiring as an Air Traffic controller in 2002. Live north of Houston, Tx since 1984. Married for 55 years with 3 adult children and 4 grandkids. Health issues the last few years opened up the VA issues from Agent Orange and I am sitting at 80% disabled. Thanks again for what you are doing here. PS, please say hello to DJ. I owe him apology for not recognizing him when he called decades ago to invite me to a reunion. Drew a total blank. Take care Mike. Also ... I hope my call sign is the correct one !!! Yikes

Message: Never served, far too young but my grandfather was in Vietnam. There is an old AH-1F on display in a nearby town that I'm curious to learn more about. According to a plaque it is dedicated to a Cpt. Alvie Ledford and WO William Pierson III. The tail on the Cobra is 67-15650. My email is always open and I'd love to talk about its history and those two heroes I mentioned. Welcome home!
